 note = {日本版 General Social Surveys (JGSS) は、アメリカの National Opinion Research Center が1972年から実施している General Social Survey (GSS) に範を取り、国際比較を視野に入れて、日本社会と人々の意識や行動の実態を把握することを目的としたプロジェクトである。このプロジェクトは、時系列分析が可能な継続的かつ総合的社会調査のデータを蓄積し、データの二次的利用を希望している幅広い分野の研究者を対象としてデータを公開することを目指している。

JGSS-Pilot 1のデータセットは、以下のデータ・アーカイブで公開している。
  日本：JGSSDDS (https://jgssdds.repo.nii.ac.jp), The Japanese General Social Surveys (JGSS) Project is a Japanese version of the General Social Survey (GSS) project closely replicating the original GSS of NORC, University of Chicago. It provides data for analyses of Japanese society, attitudes, and behaviors, which makes possible international comparisons.

The objectives of the JGSS project are three-fold: (1) to collect and build cumulative data on general social surveys in Japan in a regular and consistent manner; thus enabling a time-series analysis; (2) to provide data for secondary analyses to researchers and university students in various social science fields; and, (3) to provide data in a format useful for international comparative studies, research and reports.
